It can be instrumental, classical, whatever. But something that makes your heart soar without being mawkish, sappy, or overdone.
EDIT
I'll offer up the track "She's Leaving the Bank" from Ry Cooder's soundtrack to Paris, Texas. I can hardly keep from smiling in pure childish glee when I listen to it.

Ry Cooder is actually a really, really great choice!

I'm thinking Art Tatum. Or maybe Faiyaz Khan.

Any of these would do for me:
Your Blues
Through the Windowpane
Stranded
Part of me feels tempted to mention Funeral as well, but I don't know if the romance of that album would be too much tempered by its grief.

Never fall in love.
If I was 100% sure that wasn't the title of a pop song, I would call it profound.

Show Me Heaven - Maria Mckeee
It's romantic to me even though every last sinew of the wannabe music critic in me fights my choice

I second Through the Windowpane. I fell in love last year and was listening a lot to it, mainly Trains to Brazil, at the time.

I thought "The Saints?!" and whistled, but when I looked it was Roxy Music (very smooth =) )
It's a good question, one I can't answer though.

Hmm, maybe some Michael Bolton would be in order? Nah, that's getting old... On a serious note, there's just too much love related music out there and I can't really answer that question

Probably the love themes from Mancini Soundtracks like Breakfast at Tiffany or something like that...
Or Maybe some Dusty Springfield and Andy Williams classic song...
Anytime I listen to them I feel like I'm falling in love

My first love happened my junior year in high school and was the most intense, as it is with many people. Our song was Black Magic Woman from Santana's Abraxas album. To this day, I always relate that song with the intensity of my feelings for that girl.
