Great album, fantastic production. Annoyingly during the middle 15 minutes of this 28 minute album, it slows right down (to mid-speed), but it really drags for me. Especially after such a (short but) exhilarating opening. |

Grindcore has long had a lowly reputation among musical snobs and elitist boobs. Afterall even those within the genre often understand the silliness of their own music, so it's somewhat refreshing when grind bands sacrifice seriousness at the alter of comedy, Agoraphobic Nosebleed fit comfortably in this area; in case you couldn't tell with song titles such as the appallingly corny 'Agorapocalyse Now' or the whimsical 'Dick to Mouth Resuscitation' and 'Druggernaut Jug Fuck.' ANb know grindcore is at its best when the bands simply have fun with it all, and a grind band that is easy going and without care beats the hell out of the ones that try to turn an outlandish genre into somekind of grand science. I can't really say that many tracks stood out to me 'Moral Distortion' was probably my favorite, but much of the rest gets caught up in the muck. In the end Agorapocalyse is well above average for grindcore, but it's still to some degree a victim of the hokiness of it all. |
