Fiction Factory are part of a long line of untalented eighties also-rans such as When In Rome, Endgames, The Lover Speaks, Habit, Private Lives and This Island Earth, to name but a few. Some of them, if they were lucky, managed a solitary radio hit, while Fiction Factory went all the way to No. 6 with "Feels Like Heaven". Despite being the best track by some distance, it sounds curiously insubstantial over two decades later. Needless to say, everything else this band released was tuneless, overproduced crap.

I bought this on the strength of "Feels Like Heaven", which is without a doubt one of my favorite 80s songs of all time. To be honest, I was expecting a ton of filler on this album and not much else. Granted, there is some filler, but it's not that bad. In addition, there's some good stuff to be found like "All or Nothing" and "Ghost of Love". All in all, not a bad debut. It's stuff like this that attracts me to all these obscure 80s acts, I suppose.

If you seek "Feels Like Heaven" then seek it on an '80s compilation; there is little to recommend the rest of this album and there's nothing about bicycling!  They were thoughtful however and popped in a lyrics sheet and an extra 45 rpm disc if you're lucky.

Phenomenon of one hit wonders. "Feels Like Heaven" is really outstanding track & there's is nothing more really comparable with it. Still, if you like for example Heaven 17, you can find a lot of interesting 80's pop. "Ghost of Love" failed to be a hit, but it's a nice track, although "Heart and Mind" would be a better choice to promote the album. & I love "The Hanging Gardens", very nice ballad.
