WalterDigsTunes @Aug 07, 2011 Babatunde Olatunji Drums of Passion | Immaculately recorded and powerfully mixed, this 1960 album features striking African percussion that comes to life on just about any hi-fi system. I think it's quite safe to say I've never felt as if the musicians are literally right in front of me. The rhythms, so constant yet full of microscopic variation, are beyond lifelike. Rhythm becomes synonymous with life itself.
A must. |

 | I Ought To Check 'Em Out
Here are some artists and albums I plan to invest in at some point. No, this list isn't in any order. I just go around looking at people's reviews, adding interesting stuff as it appears. So thanks, RYMers... you've made this unsightly mess possible. Created: 01/15/2009 | Last updated: 02/09/2012 | 1573 items | | I Ought To Check 'Em Out Too

I've concluded I'll never be able to listen to all these acts... Created: 11/12/2009 | Last updated: 01/31/2012 | 1758 items | | I Ought to Investigate These Artists As Well

Life is short but my lists are long. Created: 10/24/2011 | Last updated: 02/19/2012 | 548 items | | Comps to Check Out
Compilations are a funny thing. Some are genre-driven exercises while others seem to have no real purpose whatsoever. Certain soundtracks and various artist compilations sometimes justify their existence by keeping rare tracks hostage. As such, I absolutely must have them.
This list is dedicated to niche genres, lame flicks and arbitrary periodization! Created: 05/02/2010 | Last updated: 08/11/2011 | 1004 items | | More Comps to Check Out
Various Artists. Think about that. While each performer and performing unit strives forward with a particular proposition, here were are, putting several entities onto the same circular disc. They are forced to coexist on the basis of stylistic similarities or temporal designations. Is this fair to the unique spirit of each discreet endeavor? Also, don't forget about performances from distinct ethnic traditions. What, if any, considerations should we have as we listen to cultural elements that differ from our own?
We'll have to check these comps out in order to find out for ourselves. Created: 11/14/2010 | Last updated: 02/08/2012 | 500 items | | Walter Needs More Prog
